Simple School Baby Shower
Just last year, both me and my subject teaching partner, Amanda of The Accidental Mrs., were BOTH pregnant! Luckily our due dates were pretty well spread apart because I cannot imagine the havoc that would have ensued if we were both out at the same time. We were also blessed by the support from our incredible Instructional Coach, Travonnie. Travonnie supported our long term subs and also the teacher that was still at work while the other was out! It was a huge blessing. Fast forward to this year and Travonnie is expecting her sweet little guy Micah and we were so excited to return the favor and shower her with love! When planning a school baby shower you need four main things; invitation, decorations, games, and a gift!
I did receive some of these products for free in return for my honest review, but all opinions are my own and they made the shower wonderful!
Spreading The Word
Nautical theme is what we decided to go with because she is also using that in her nursery. Immediately I scoured Etsy looking for the BEST of the best invitation options. Linda over at Charm City Charm had exactly what we were looking for and she was so easy to work with and we received the invitation quickly! You can check her shop from the link OR here! We printed them at Walgreens and stuck them in the teachers boxes.
Teachers know that planning a school baby shower means trying to dress up a room in the school – ha! The bare white walls and lovely carpet make for a great backdrop, right? We had to be a little creative in terms of how we were going to set everything up but Etsy quickly became our best friend – the possibilities are endless and we found so many ADORABLE shops!
How adorable is this banner! It made the PERFECT feature over our food table and I love how it just tied all of the nautical themes together.
We set up a seat for Travonnie and her hubby near the board. The space was kind of blank so we wanted to spruce it up with another fun banner! This is available as a digital download. I had it printed at Staples and it turned our AWESOME! Also included is the Daddy To Be banner if you wanted to include both at your shower!
I love that this life ring was able to be used for both shower decoration AND nursery decor! We added this nautical ring to our cake table for an extra special touch. Simple yet really tied in the decor all together!
Tell me who doesn’t love some good baby shower games? I love that the digital file includes SEVERAL options. We actually had a few games going on at once – differentiation at it’s finest 🙂 My favorite is always the ABC Baby Game.
I cannot say enough good things about this BEAUTIFUL baby blanket handmade by Robin over at SeasTheDaySewing! Robin was incredibly friendly and helpful and the blanket turned out absolutely stunning. Baby Micah is loved so much already, as is his mom, and I feel like this gift was just PERFECT to show them both how much we love them!
Micah is so loved already and it was such a joy to *shower* Travonnie as she gets ready to add another sweet boy in to her family! Teaching is hard, mothering is hard – put the two together and life is crazy difficult. Throwing a shower for another teacher is just a simple way to say thank you and make them feel loved! These shops I have tagged all have a PLETHORA of options to make any occasion special – be sure to check them out!
I typed up the letters for MICAH and projected them on my board to trace! I also typed out the words for the acrostic poem. I’m a firm believer in speaking life over everyone!
The other Instructional Coach created these adorable centerpieces! The pail is filled with lifesaver candies so it was a perfect treat for people to take on their way out. You know a teacher has a limited budget so something simple, inexpensive and cute is right up our alley! We were also able to surprise her which was awesome!
