Make Sure Proper Sunscreen Usage Tops Your Priority List This Summer!
Before I had children I was not really concerned with re-applying sunscreen. I tried to apply the minimum amount to make sure I headed home from our annual beach vacation with the *perfect* glow. I realize now that those were not my best days! I have had many close to me struggle with a skin cancer diagnosis AND as I have gotten older I have learned that I actually burn SO much easier.
As my family gets ready to head back to the beach for our annual vacation, and I have two kids in tow, I am acutely aware of how important the usage of sunscreen is in my life, and the correct usage! You cannot just apply once and be done. YOU HAVE TO RE-APPLY! Now, if you are like me you are adding up the cost of all of this sunscreen because it is SO expensive. I stand and gawk at the prices because of how ridiculous it seems. Lucky for me, my family has ALWAYS used NO-AD sunscreen and it is easy to clearly see the price difference right in the store.

Why Choose NO-AD?
The name of the brand speaks for itself. The call themselves NO-AD because they really do no advertising. None. You won’t see their commercials on TV or hear them on the radio. They do this because it allows them to bring lower prices to the consumer. Their sunscreens are TOP quality, so don’t let the lower cost fool you! You are getting a ton of bang for your buck when you go with NO-AD sunscreen. NO-AD is made in the U.S. and has been around since 1962.
All NO-AD sunscreens are
- Retinyl Palmitate-free
- Tree Nut-free
- NO ANIMAL TESTING (this is huge in my book, ya’ll!)
What Does Proper Sunscreen Usage Look Like?
Like I said before, I was pretty sure it just meant apply it once and go on! Now that I have kids I am so much more aware. BUT! Just because you don’t have kids does not mean you should not use sunscreen the correct way – you do not want the long term effects of sun poisoning or skin cancer.
We are a family of four. Our day at the beach looks like about 6-8 hours. Did you know everyone should apply at least one ounce of sunscreen every 2 hours? For a 6 hour day that is 3 ounces per person – 12 ounces for the whole family! Only if we stay out for just 6 hours – any more time and the amount of sunscreen needed increases. What does one ounce look like? About a golf ball size amount of lotion in your hand applied to all exposed areas of the skin. You must apply sunscreen BEFORE you go out! Do not wait until you start to “feel” the burn, by then it it is too late… Check out this info graphic that NO-AD shared with me, great resource!
Also, be sure to check out Ocean Potion for their self-tanning lotion and face potion! My face always burns first so I make sure to reapply extra. You may not get to the beach this summer but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a “just came home from the beach” glow! Get your self a self-tanner than doesn’t damage your skin!
Summer is not over! Before you head out to the pool or on your vacation –
go to the store and grab some NO-AD sunscreen and protect your family’s
skin from sun damage!
