A Journey of Grief; Healing; and Pregnancy After Loss
[I did receive a free copy of this book in return for my honest review.]
Recently I had the pleasuring of reading Alexis Marie Chute’s story of her journey through expecting sunshine; pregnancy after loss. As soon as I received the request to check out this book I knew I could not pass it up seeing that I had been in the same boat just three years ago when I was pregnant with Rhory. Losing a baby and then experiencing a subsequent pregnancy is exciting and terrifying all in one. I will never really get to experience a normal pregnancy from start to finish because of my pregnancy with Sawyer.
Expecting Sunshine; A Journey of Grief, Healing, and Pregnancy After Loss by Alexis Marie Chute is a beautifully written story that captures the bittersweet journey of a pregnant mother on her journey through pregnancy after loss. The year after her son Zachary dies in her arms she loses all sense of who she is and it is not until her next pregnancy where she rediscovers herself. As she navigates through each week of the pregnancy she documents the feelings and emotions as she learns to be *herself* again before having another baby.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves struggling through a pregnancy after loss – you are not alone! The feelings are very real and very valid and it just sometimes sucks all around! I experienced a LOT of anxiety through my pregnancies and I had to surround myself with others who had been there. I was constantly worried sick about movements and kicks and I just did not calm down until both Rhory and Rhett were in my arms.
