Huge thanks to Brave PR for providing me with tickets to this show in exchange for an honest review!

Ontario Was Here @ Aurora Theatre

I want to start by saying that I love, love, love the opportunities I am provided with to bring you all some great events and activities around Atlanta! Shows at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA are definitely at the top of my list. They provide a variety of shows and you are bound to find one for each member of your family! Ontario was here is definitely a more serious play for the older members of your family.

Ontario Was Here is a show that follows two social workers and their journey as they work to serve disadvantaged children. The play reveals the struggles the two social workers, played by Brittany L. Smith as Penni and Seun Soyemi as Nathan, face as they try to navigate helping the children but also balancing the emotional turmoil that comes with the job. Ontario is originally under Nathan’s jurisdiction but are transferred to Penni which creates a lot of disagreements between the two on what is best for the nine-year-old.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, my mom and dad actually went to this show in my place. My mom and I have several friends involved in the foster care system and I was intrigued at the story line of Ontario Was Here. According to my parents the emotion was real and the actors were incredible. The actors were shown acting scenes simultaneously to show the real difference in the role the character played in Ontario’s life. This is a show that will not disappointed but is not as light hearted as some of the other shows featured at the Aurora. There is real emotional struggle involved in every aspect of the foster care system.

Ontario Was Here is currently at the Aurora Theatre and running until March 4, so there is plenty of time for you to get in to see the show! Get your tickets here.

Have you seen the show? I would love to hear your thoughts!

I live so close to the Aurora Theater but I’ve never been. I need to change that this year. This sounds like an awesome show, thanks for the great review.
